Malaria Vector Species Identification Training
|
Training in morphological identification of anopheles mosquitoes was held in Nabang field station,
Yunnan, China, from 22 July to 27 July, 2011. More than 20 technicians, students, and project scientists
participated in the training.

Parasite Identification Training
|
Group training in microscopic identification of malaria parasite species was held in Nabang field station,
Yunnan, China. Seven nurses from Myanmar, 4 graduate students, 2 technicians and 2 scientists from China
participated in the 5-day training from 14 July to 18 July, 2011.

Data Entry Training
|
Data entry and statistical training was held in Nabang field station, Yunnan, China.
Four students, data entry staff and two scientists participated in the two-week training
from 12 July to 23 July, 2011.

NIH delegate visit our China/Myanmar and Thailand sites
|
Ms. Katherine Muth, a clinical project manager in division of microbiology and infectious
diseases of US NIAID/NIH, visit our study site in both China/Myanmar and Thailand sites.
She first travel with PI, Dr. Liwang Cui to Mae Sod, Tak Province, Thailand and then went
to China-Myanmar border area in Yingjiang county, Yunnan Province, China. She visited our
efforts on this project included the newly renovated research station. She also talked to
staff and researchers for potential issues and recommendations of our processes.

DSS and Cross-sectional study in Myanmar
|
There are 10 Myanmar villages were enrolled in DSS and ACD survey this year.
We have the DSS and the cross-sectional study for the following ACD surveillance at the same time.
We visited each village to have the roster and bloodsmear with great help from the nurses,
field assistants and translators of the Ministry of Health.

Staff Training Course for Surveillance Activities in Myanmar
|
Dr. Zhao-Qing Yang, professor from Kunming Medical University, China, and Dr. Ming-chieh Lee,
research associate from University of California, Irvine, USA, joined our staff training courses
for nurses and field assistants from the Ministry of Health of Myanmar local government.
The primary goals for this training are not only fimilar with our survey forms but also understand
how to use GPS device to assist our surveillance activities.
